Damp proofing a lounge in three days
A lounge with damp walls, surveyed, treated and replastered inside three working days, with the room left clean and ready to decorate.
What the customer needed
The customer asked us to look at damp in their lounge. Damp in a living room is the kind people live with for years because it tends to start low down behind furniture, and by the time it is obvious the plaster is usually soft and the decoration is spoiled.
Before quoting we visited, took moisture readings across the affected walls and worked out what type of damp it was. That matters, because rising damp, penetrating damp and condensation all need different fixes, and treating the wrong one is money wasted.
How the job was done
Work started on the Tuesday. The contaminated plaster was stripped back to bare masonry and the walls were cleared of salts and loose material so the treatment had a clean surface to bond to.
The walls were then treated to stop the moisture getting back in, and once the treatment was in place the room was replastered with renovation plaster and skimmed smooth. Dust sheets were down throughout and the customer was walked through each stage of the process as it happened.
How it turned out
The job was finished in three days. The customer described the workmanship as very high standard, the team as always on time and very clean, and called it an amazing job for the price. They said they would be using us again.
