Garage door bricked up and a new internal door into the house
An old garage door opening closed off with matching brickwork, and a new doorway cut through into the house with a lintel above it.
What the customer needed
The customer wanted the garage door opening bricked up and a new internal door made through to the house. Closing one opening and forming another is structural work: the new doorway needs proper support above it before any brickwork comes out.
We surveyed the wall construction and planned the lintel and the sequence of work before starting.
How the job was done
Temporary supports went in and the lintel was fitted above the planned doorway before the opening was cut, so the wall above was never left unsupported. The new opening was cut to size and the frame fitted.
The old garage door opening was bricked up and tied into the existing wall, then the reveals and the new brickwork were plastered and finished so the changes read as part of the original house.
How it turned out
A rated five out of five job on MyBuilder, with the garage opening closed off and the house gaining a proper internal door through to the garage space.
